Hur upplever gymnasieelever sin informationssökning? En studie på en skola utan tillgång till skolbibliotek

This masters thesis aims to investigate how upper secondary school pupils experience their Information seeking in a school context without access to a school library. It is the pupils own thoughts and opinions about Information seeking and criticism of the sources that is the main focus. The literature that has been used consists of material from research concerning youth and different aspects of Information seeking such as the Information seeking process, Information seeking on the web, criticism of the sources and how pupils interact with other people in order to acquire information. The method that has been used is group interviews. Twelve pupils from an independent school without access to a school library have been interviewed in groups of three.

The aim of this thesis is to examine how high school students use their school library for their information-seeking. The theoretical framework is based on Louise Limbergs three categories of students views on information-seeking and Andrew Large and Jamshid Beheshtis three categories of students choice of information systems. Qualitative interviews were used and seven high school students were interviewed. The empirical material was compared and divided into 9 categories. The results show that the students see the school library as a place where they can search for information, but its also considered to be a good place to hang out between lessons to study or to meet friends.

The purpose of this thesis is to reach a deeper understanding of the context of teachers? Information seeking. Research in the role of the library in a learning perspective is in demand. The two practices are related to each other but still very different. This makes it interesting to study whether individuals? Information seeking behaviour changes when they move from the educational practice to the professional.The theoretical framework for the current study is a socio-cultural one.

This Masters thesis concerns difficulties experienced by Gender Studies researchers in an Information seeking context. The aim is to identify, and study the cause of, these potential difficulties by asking the following questions: How do researchers in Gender Studies seek information? The purpose of this Master's thesis was to examine how and what trainee teachers are being taught about Information seeking and school libraries related to problem-based teaching method in compulsory school. The questions at issue were: How have trainee teachers learned about Information seeking? How have trainee teachers learned about using school libraries? We also wanted to know which education they have got in Information seeking and school libraries. We examined this through both literature and empirical studies. We used a qualitative method in order to answer the questions at issue.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how novices set about when they search for information. Marchionini's information-seeking model is the theoretical starting point, which is supplemented by theories of other specialists within the field, such as Chowdhury; Harter; Large, Tedd and Hartley. As method a questionnaire survey was used. The questionnaire was sent to 96 students at IHM Business School in Gothenburg and 57 questionnaires were returned. The results show among other things that the majority of the students used highly interactive search strategies, and they did not plan their search before they carried out the search.

The purpose of this study is to examine how adult students, studying at an upper secondary school for adults, search for information for their independent tasks in different subjects. These independent tasks are frequent in most subjects and are a part of the ?investigation-work?. For most adult students this is a new way of learning. Fifteen qualitative interviews with adult students have been conducted.
